Activity 1A
This activity brought back pleasant memories of completing my Postgraduate Diploma in Education. Bloom's taxonomy was used as the foundation of the identification of lesson objectives. As such, the beginning of this activity journey was a smooth one.
Purpose: Identify media to use in your course
Time: 1 hour
Subject: Electronic Document Preparation and
Management
Reason for choice of media/technologies
Zoom: online
session (synchronous)
Google classroom:
self-directed learning (asynchronous)
WhatsApp
voice recording: Short assignments
Email:
requirement of the School Based Assessment
Voki /
Videos / Photo story: use as a set induction or short assignments
Microsoft
Office suite: requirement of the School Based Assessment for the production of
documents.
Response to Questions
1. What
kind of lessons do you think can be best taught using audio?
In
Electronic Document Preparation and Management (EDPM), the practical areas of
the subject would be well supported by audio. For example, Keyboard
Mastery.
2. Which lessons might be difficult to translate to audio?
There are some theoretical areas for which video is more suitable for example, Types and Parts of Computers as well as where students must demonstrate the correct posture for typing. These may be less effective in audio.
Activity 2A - Finding Podcasts
Purpose: Search for an existing podcast on a subject that you teach.
Podcast: Speed and Accuracy in Keyboarding by Shitta Kolade
What aspects of the podcast that you listened to did you particularly enjoy?
The objectives were outlined at the beginning of the podcasts and reiterated throughout the lesson. This was an enjoyable moment for me because it allowed the connectivity between the content being provided and knowing how it related to the objectives. The examples used were also relevant.
Are they relevant to your context?
Extremely relevant and as such I searched for other podcasts within the same subject area.
